Our Table X MAPPA X HEIDE

Supper Hike

In February, we gathered for a Supper Hike that unfolded as both journey and offering; a slow, intentional weaving together of people and place.

Our evening commenced with a gentle wander through the Yaluk Langa gardens that frame the Heide grounds. Guided with generosity and depth by Yorta Yorta and Boonwurrung man and Wurundjeri Educator, Chris Hume, the experience was grounded in story and perspective — an invitation to see the land not just as a setting, but as a living, layered presence. It was a reminder that every step holds history, and every gathering has the opportunity to move us.

As dusk settled, we arrived at the table — a space transformed. In collaboration with the Heide Kitchen team, the evening’s dining experience was designed as an extension of the walk itself: thoughtful, seasonal, and deeply connected to place. Each dish spoke quietly but clearly, celebrating local produce and the hands that shaped it.

This Supper Hike was not simply an event, but a coming together of creative minds and shared intention. To Ava and Michael from Mappa, thank you for your vision and sensitivity in shaping an experience that felt both grounded and expansive. To Chris Hume, for your generosity in guiding us with such care and insight. To Laura Boulton, Natasha Strahan, and the wider Heide Kitchen, Common Ground Project and Mulbery Group team — your attention to detail and commitment to craft elevated every moment beyond expectation.

Curating such an intentionally layered activation alongside you all has been one of our proudest moments. It is experiences like these that remind us of the quiet power of gathering; of moving, eating, and connecting together in ways that linger long after the evening ends.

We look forward to welcoming many more to the table, wherever the path may lead next.
